smava, a a Berlin, Germany-based operator of a platform for consumer credit, announced that i acquired Finanzcheck (FFG FINANZCHECK GmbH).
The deal, which has other financial undisclosed, was made for 100% of the shares, with Speedster Bidco GmbH, a company controlled by Hellman & Friedman.
The merger creates a leading platform in Germany specializing in consumer loans, as overall, both companies brokered a loan volume of well over 4 billion euros between consumers and banks in 2020.
Moritz Thiele (founder & CEO) and Andreas Kupke (COO) will step down from their role as managing directors of Finanzcheck after the transaction is complete.
Smava, founded in 2007 by CEO Alexander Artopé, develped a platform via which it offers an overview of 70 loans between €1,000 and €120,000 from over 20 banks and lending partners.
Finanzcheck, founded in 2011 by Moritz Thiele, developed a credit comparison platform with a cross-bank advisory approach.
